In-Home Family Training

Practical guidance for the people supporting everyday skills.
In-Home Family Training is designed for parents and caregivers who want practical guidance for supporting life-skills development within everyday routines.
Rather than simply providing recommendations, we work within your family's actual environment to help you understand how to introduce a skill, break it into manageable steps, use visual or adaptive supports, provide appropriate prompting and create opportunities for consistent practice.
The focus is on helping the adults supporting the individual feel more confident using strategies during the moments when the skill actually needs to happen.
What We Can Work On
Family Training can include:
Breaking complex routines into smaller, teachable steps
Understanding and using different levels of prompting
Introducing and using visual supports
Building predictable routines
Supporting hygiene and personal-care skills
Encouraging participation without taking over the task
Adjusting the environment to make routines easier to complete
Building consistency across parents and caregivers
Recognizing when a support can be reduced or faded
Adapting strategies as skills and needs change
What Training Looks Like
Training takes place within the routines and environments where your family needs support. We may review an existing routine, model a strategy, practice using a visual support or work through how and when to prompt.
You'll have an opportunity to try strategies, ask questions and make adjustments based on what works for your family.
The goal is not to create dependence on ongoing professional support. It's to give parents and caregivers practical tools they understand and can continue using on their own.
What You'll Leave With
You'll leave with a clearer plan for how to support the skill, practical strategies to use during everyday routines and a better understanding of how to adjust support as the individual becomes more independent.
When helpful, we can also create or recommend visual supports, routine systems and practical tools to reinforce what you're practicing at home.
Built for Real Family Life
Strategies only work when families can realistically use them.
We take into account your family's schedule, environment, available supports and the other demands of everyday life. The goal is not a perfect routine.
It's a sustainable one.
