In-Home Family Training

Practical guidance for the people supporting everyday skills.
In-Home Family Training brings life-skills education into the environment where everyday routines actually happen. Together, we'll look at your family's priorities, current routines, physical environment, existing supports and the strategies already being used by your child's broader team.
Rather than introducing another disconnected approach, we'll identify ways to carry existing goals and recommendations into everyday life at home. We'll determine which skills to prioritize, break those skills into teachable steps and create practical systems that parents and caregivers can use consistently.
Training may include visual supports, prompting strategies, environmental changes, routine design, adaptive tools, organization systems and ways to create more opportunities for participation throughout the day.
Your Family Life Skills Plan
Following the training, your family will receive a customized implementation guide designed around your home and current priorities. Depending on your family's needs, this may include:
A prioritized life-skills rollout schedule so your family isn't trying to work on everything at once
Step-by-step plans for the routines you're currently targeting
Custom visual supports, checklists or routine guides
Recommendations for adaptive tools, household products and organizational systems
Suggestions for changes to the physical environment that can make greater participation possible
Prompting and support strategies for parents and caregivers
A plan for introducing, practicing and gradually building each skill
Recommendations for coordinating home practice with goals and strategies already being used by therapists, educators and other members of your child's team
The goal is to leave your family with more than information. You'll have a practical roadmap for what to work on, how to introduce it and what supports to put in place.
Designed to Work With Your Existing Team
The Life Skills Co. does not replace therapeutic, clinical or educational services. When appropriate and with family involvement, our life-skills plan can incorporate recommendations and goals from your child's existing providers so home practice complements the work already happening at school and in therapy.
As skills develop, the plan can evolve with your family through In-Home Skills Implementation and ongoing family support.
